William Bepler Obituary

William H. Bepler, 93, of Greensburg, formerly of Wyano, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, with his family by his side. He was born Sept. 19, 1930, in Greensburg, son of the late William M. and Mildred (Henninger) Bepler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joycelene L. (Mautino) Bepler (2021); son-in-law, James Sullenberger; and grandson, Randy Bepler. Bill was proud to be an Army National Guard veteran, serving more than 41 years, retiring as a major. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Belle Telephone/Verizon in Greensburg for more than 40 years. Bill was a longtime member of United Church of Christ in New Stanton and was also a member of the American Legion Post 401 in West Newton and a 51-year member of the Tri-County Lodge No. 252 Free and Accepted Masons in Donora and a Master Mason, since June 29th, 1972. Bill was also a 30-year volunteer at Excela Health (Life-Line) in Greensburg. He loved to travel with his late wife, especially going to Las Vegas and cruising to different islands. He enjoyed hunting with his grandsons, loved doing leather work making gifts for his family and friends. Most important to him were family get-togethers; he always loved the parties. Bill is survived by his five children, Carol (Gregg) Freme, of North Carolina, Tom (Karen) Bepler, of Greensburg, Connie Sullenberger and her husband, Howard Utz, of Irwin, Bonnie (Terry) Sethman, of Irwin, and Terri (Jeff) Patterson, of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nephew, Tom (Doreen) King, of Jeannette. The family would like to thank Weatherwood Manor of Greensburg for all their love and compassionate care. Bill will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He will forever be remembered for his kind heart and love for his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the JOSEPH W. NICKELS FUNERAL HOME INC., 404 Sewickley Ave., Herminie, PA 15637, 724-446-7251. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, in the funeral home.
